Default gas leak

I have an 05 rancher 4x4, I can't get the gas to stop leaking out the over flow. I put in a carb kit, cleaned the float seat realy good. it stopped for a few minutes, but started leaking again. What could it be? it sat up for about 2 years.

Have you checked the float itself? Put it in a cup of fuel and see if it floats. Did you clean the rest of the carb as well as you did with the float?

Pull the carb and check the needle and seat again.

Reason I say this, my wife's 04 Yamaha Bruin did the same thing after a rebuild of the carb. Fuel would flow from the overflow tube and it got to the point that it would flow continuously, even after tapping the carb fuel bowl.

Pulling the carb again last week showed that there was piece of 'trash' in the seat. Plus, this carb needed rebuilding again so I bought a kit and rebuilt it after soaking the carb body and bowl in carb cleaner. Plus I flushed the tank and installed a new fuel line. Ethanol in the fuel will ruin a rubber line over a few years. Anyway,no more leaks from the carb......plus it runs great.

Only problem now is that the fuel valve leaks so I ordered a new one of those. My wife really needs to ride this thing more often.
