What am talking about is low end power in first gear at very slow speeds. I'v tried D1, D2 and ESP modes seemed to me that ESP was getting the most power to the ground. But I'v been to were I could hold the throttle wide open in all modes and no tire spin. I only weigh around 180lbs so its not over loaded. The soil conditions that I'm in are soft, dry on top and damp about 2" down so its biting pretty hard on that tacky clay. If it does break loss and start spinning look out because its mean side to side jumping up and down until you let go.

stomper.. DID U TRY HITTING THE THROTTLE??? thats really weird... hmm.. i have'nt even ever put mine in ESP so i would'nt no if it has more power to the ground or not.. that's still weird i can get mine spin on the slightest mud just hit the throttle a little harder...

I can't hit the throttle any harder its wide open. I'v heard guys talk that the stock tires don't hook up very well, those things bite good thats part of the reason it won't spin. Because if you put a little slack in the rope and then punch it look out dirt flying everywhere. But if you ease the strap tight and then give it hell, nothing. As far as spinning in mud it dosn't take a whole lot of power, unless you have huge tires that rob alot of power to start with. I'm talking low end power. I gess I'm just used to my 400 2-stroke that pulls a 150gal. 60ft. boom sprayer with ease, will try the Ruby on it this spring will let you know the out come. I'v had a Magnum 425 and the 500 Polaris both hooked on to that sprayer and they both could'nt hold water to the 400 2-stroke. Will see what the Ruby can do, I have good faith it will out perform the 425 and 500 Polaris. Never had the 425 & 500 long enough to test them on many other jobs. Got rid of them as soon as we found out they could'nt handle the sprayer.
Sorry for the long post!

Went on a sled trail today in warm conditions (45 deg) and all of us hit a slush hole on a sunny section, the rubi did great and pulled threw at full throttle D1@ 15MPH but one friend on a rancher got hi centred and badly burried as the snow is over 10 feet deep. As for low end power problem, I also notice when I ride along a flat section in either d1 or d2 at 25mph and hit a super steep hill the quad looses speed fast as the tranny doenst downshift fast enough and it feels like a 450s in 3rd gear. In low range it spins the tires on dry pavement though.

Hey stomper, a friend has the same 96'Xplorer as you and I havent ridden with him yet with my rubi as he is in the navy, what do you think has better trail manners, the rubi or the xpress 400? That 2wd xpress is impressive as it rockets 60MPH on sled trails.

I have the 400 Xplorer 4x4, not the two wheel drive one. About the trail riding I haven't had the Ruby out and about much yet. I'v only had it sence late December. About all I'v done with it is plow snow and farm work. I would say that the Polaris would be a little more fun sence you can take it out of 4wd and sence its so snappy. It does cruise only pretty good, the speedo goes to 60mph and it does that plus some.

I wasn't trying to stick mine and did. I can tell you how to duplicate this feat if you'd like. High center it from one end to the other in 4 wheeler ruts that are deeper than your ground clearance. All four wheels (3 really) were spinning and not touching bottom. Took a winch on a Suzuki Quadrunner 500 and a tow strap on a Rancher to get me out...backwards. Going forward would have been worse. It'll stick.
