Default gaskets

just did top end on 85' 250sx atc and noticing a bit of leaking from head cover...i used permatex ultra black to build the gasket. anyone else having trouble with this. gonna have to redo and any suggestions on this atc cos' it was a b!tch getting it back on and difficult not smearing the permatex in such a tight space. can i make a gasket? why is this machine not required to have one cos' nadda came with the kit? thx in advance and i appreciate all feedback!!!

A kit like this should have the rocker cover gasket you need. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-ATC-25...169#vi-content
You said you bought a gasket kit and the proper gasket was not included . If you do have to use the permatex to make a gasket the permatex should be should be put on the rocker cover. Then you need to let is cure for 20 min or so. If you put your finger in the permatex and it sticks to your finger it has not set up long enough and will just squish out when you torque the cover down.

Go to the local honda shop and ask for some honda bond. It works very well and you use it sparingly.

jgar...thanks alot. did what you said seeing as i had the sealant on hand. i'll see how it goes in 24 hrs.

Well. i waited 48 hrs to cure. Took it out tonight. just got back in brrrr. its -4 degrees up here in ontario canada. runs mint. il look for leaks over the next fews. Thx for the help
