300ex Lost in power @ high RPMS

Default 300ex Lost in power @ high RPMS

300ex first started smoking out the exhaust then i did an oil change and it stopped now when im in high rpms in high gears it act like im in 2nd gear also i found oil or some green gunky stuff in my air filter PLEASE HELP

#1. Run the valves.

#2. Do a compression (or better yet a leakdown) and post the numbers.

Unless it was overfilled with oil this does not sound good.

its was over filled but now that i took some out it still do it and hardly come up on the dip stick

how do i fix it, drained some out but i still cant go fast

you should get your valves checked unless you can do it yourself. when you do an oil change do you change the filter aswell?, mine did that aswell i changed front front sprocket (added 2 teeth) made a huge difference i dnt hold the throttle all the way and i go 98 km/h.

no i did not change my oil filter could that be the promblem

i just found an metal part in the oil tank its pretty big look like it broke off something

its possible that the oil filter was clogged and starved the motor and ran hot and eventually caused problems.. thats not a good thing to find a chunk of metal,, i would discourage you from riding and get the motor serviced (if you want to spend the money) it could be a easy fix or bad enough all depends what you wanna do, you can find new engines between 900-1200 bucks depends where you look,, remember whenever you change your oil change the filter aswell, there not expensive,,good luck to you keep us updated on your progress

well to update this the metal piece i found was an reflection off the oil to something above the parts are in good shape over my oil filter is very clogged i will change when i get an chance and see if i still have an promblem. Surprisingly i dont have metal shaving in my oil filter

could it be an permanent problem from me overheating it from the clogged filter
