i am getting a new quad and cannot decide which one to get. The 300ex looks very reliable and quite fast, but the raptor does to. im looking for the faster and lighter one. The two i am looking at are both the same price. I have experience with quads so which one rides harder as well. I also am only 15 years old and 150lbs plz these types of quads are not my expertise and i wanna get one or the other soon.

In stock form, the 300ex is a bullet proof, great handling quad, and very easy to mod for more zip. I dont know much about the newer Raptor 350, basically a replacement for the Warrior, a powerful engine, but a bit heavy and less nimble than the 300ex. You can use 400ex a arms and tie rods to widen the front a couple inches, and get a shock adapter for the much longer, better sprung 400ex shocks, then with a Raptor (2001 model only) or even a Warrior shock on the rear, you will have a much better suspension. Add a pipe and muffler, open up the air box and rejet, if money allows, get a wider rear axle and put on some 20" tires on the back, regear for the tires or get a +1000rpm cdi, and that little quad will rip. I had one modded like that for my son, sold it to a buddy at work for his son when mine outgrew it, he was beating Warriors in the pits and on the trail, because it handled so good and rode better with the mods, you dont need horsepower to rule, if your quad rides better, you can ride it harder, and that makes all the difference in how much fun you can have. I did nothing to the motor itself, all bolt on mods, and my son was very happy with it for years. I'm sure you could mod the Raptor as well, but since I dont know much about them, I can't tell you what works and how good it works, hopefully some Raptor 350 owners will chime in.

A 400 ex for less than a 300? the only thing you give up is reverse, the 400 is WAY better all around than the 300..........grab that quad NOW !!.....lol
I would not hesitate on going for the 400, you will get used to the 300 pretty fast and be looking for more power before you know it, the 400 will be much better suited to your age and size.
