Default 2001 Honda Recon Service

Just picked up a 2001 Honda Recon for my son. It seems the original owner took care of the atv and it does not appear to be abused. I have a couple questions I'd like to ask though.

I plan to change the oil, plug, air filter, and differential fluid. What are the recommended oils for the engine and the differential? Any other items to check out or change here?

The choke cable will not stay in one position when you pull it out. It just slowly goes back in. Is this normal?

Any other tips or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Great machine. Replace the original air filter with a UNI and get foam filter oil for it. It will protect the engine way better than the OEM filter. I think there is a friction nut at the carb or **** for the choke but not sure. Get a manual. Honda or Clymer are both good so either one. Standard differential oil in the rear. Do NOT use regular motor oil in the engine. Motorcycle or ATV oil is available at auto stores but I use the Honda Oil in mine. Also, go over the bike well and if you really want to make sure it lasts a good long time, take apart all pivot points and grease them. The front drum brakes are not good on the Recon but if you keep them adjusted as high as possible, they are ok.
