I am having an issue with getting my atv to go into reverse. I am a newbie. If I have the dial at D1 and move the gear shifter to R and it kind of bucks and goes no were. If I move the dial to ESP it goes into reverse and moves ok. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

 

ESP is 'automatic' mode for the Rubicon. D1 and D2 is the 'manual' mode, where the rider selects the 'high' or 'low' range for the machine. What you appear to be doing is telling the machine you want to go forward and reverse simultaneously, which it can't do. When you wish to use Reverse, shift to Neutral first, like a car or truck. I don't think you've hurt anything, the Rubicon just requires a gentler hand, when shifting between forward and reverse.

 

Thanks.. It was the CDI unit, it need to be replaced. all is ok now
