I just went to adjust the valves for the first time on my recon and i am not sure how to tell when it is TDC on the compression stroke the flywheel has two indication marks right together which one do i use. or is there a better way to determine that.

 

When you have the piston at TDC, the rockers & tappets will be open & have clearance for a feeler gauge. If not open, rotate the fly wheel counter clockwise one turn to align it again.
