Default Maxima Oils

I own a 2012 Honda TRX250TM Recon. I'm coming up to the first service and was wondering what oil I should use.

I am wanting to know if anyone uses/has used Maxima oils, in particular the Maxum4 Premium 10w-40 or Maxum4 Syn-Blend 10w-40? Would they be suitable for the TRX250? If so, which would be best? Is it ok to use a synthetic blend on a bike that has done about 10 hours?
One thing I'm concerned about those oils is whether they have any additives, moly or anything that would affect the clutch?

I think the dealer uses Castrol Power1 GPS 10w-40.......any good?

Maxima makes great oil, with 10 hours on the motor, there should be no problem going synthetic. The main thing you wan to watch with any oil is that it is wet clutch compatable. Any oil with "Energy Conserving" on it had addatives that will make your clutch slip. You want to use an ATV or Motorcycle wet clutch rated oil, it will have a JASO rating listed on it. Simply put, stay away from car oils, they are made to be slippery and will damage your clutch. Some fleet diesel oils are ok, they dont have the addatives in them, but you need to read the labels carefully. So stick with the made-for-ATV oils and you will be fine.

Thanks for the reply. Only thing I'm concerned about now is I don't think the Maxima Oils are actually certified by JASO?
Maxima's website says: Exceeds JASO-MA M/C 4T.
I would assume this would be ok for the TRX250TM, just have to trust Maxima that their oils do actually meet or exceed MA.

Don,t bother with blends there a rip off, maybe 10% to 20% synthetic at most but with a high price. Go "Full" 100% synthetic , just make sure it motorcycle grade so its made for wet clutches.

I know with Amsoil sythetic it states it can be mixed with conventional oil,so a person can make the own stronger ratio blend like 50% to 50% or higher, but ATVs take so little oil why bother, just go 100%.
