400ex problem?

OK so i broke my header pipe, i tried to weld it but i couldn't get it air tight or even close. i said screw it and bought a 2005 header and i put it on my 2002 400ex. it fits, somewhat.now the header is placed differently then my old one, is this ok, will it work, or am i asking for problems? heres some pics

I see what you mean. First did you replace the copper crush gaskets in the head for the header pipe?
I would loosen up the bolts on the header flange, mount the slip on and bolt it in place. Then see how the header fits. The slip on holds the back of the header pipe in place.
I dont think there is a difference in header pipes through out the years.

yea i put new copper rings in the header. no i didn't grind the wields. lol i kinda don't want to, i just don't want to mess it up. but on the other hand it would prolly be wise cuz i bought an HMF comp exhaust with a k&n air filter and a HMF Jet kit, It should be here monday.I do have a FMF titanium 4 but its weird, its like the previous owner rigged it to fit on the stock header. he like jamed some piece of metal in it so it could fit the stock header it has so many exhaust leaks it ain't even funny.ill have to post the pics of it sometime.
