Default Fourtrax 300 idle adjustment screw

We own a 1998 fourtrax 300. It was having a hard time idling over the past weekend. My son, who is 13, but thinks he is a genius, tried to adjust the idle screw and backed it all the way out. Looking at the screw I noticed it was bent. I called the area dealer and they will have to order the part. I did take it up to a hardware store and they matched it to a 4MM screw. I have not been able to get it threaded back in correctly. Does anyone by chance know if that is a correct size or should I go ahead and order a new one from the dealer. Silly question but was hoping someone might know. Thanks in advance.

The screw that came out, because it was bent, could have damaged the threads in the carb on the way out. If that's the case (and it likely is) then a genuine Honda screw isn't going to help. You could carefully re-tap it with a 4mm tap, but be careful or you could be looking at buying a new carb, if you can find one for that machine.
