question about 2005 foreman shift motor

Default question about 2005 foreman shift motor

will a shift motor off of a 2001 honda rubicon work on a 2005 foreman that im working on? its not even on there and i was just wondering if it would work, because i found one for fairly cheap that i can order if the owner cannot find his shift motor... thanks!

Honda says there are different part numbers.......

Two diffent motors one is a 475cc air/oil cooled the other is a 499cc liguid cooled. Both have very diffent transmissions. 2001 Honda Foreman Rubicon ATVs

Even if you can find a older 450 (432.6cc) Foreman motor it may work I think they are the same motor and tranny and all Honda did was bore and stroke it to a 475.
