Default 2003 Honda rincon ? Before purchase

I've been looking at grizzlys and bruteforce's but my friend had me come and take a look at this rincon that his neighbor is selling. It is in mint condition with only 680 miles on it. The owner changed the plastics to red because he didn't like the green and it doesn't look like the atv has seen the woods since. Includes aftermarket rims and tires, aftermarket bumpers, winch and plow. Could any one tell me what a fair price is for the atv. Also, what kind of problems do these machines have? Any input would be appreciated.

Around by me that would be a $3500-4000 atv.

It's in very good shape, the only thing that concerns me is that I'm still going to have to spend some more money on it to make it do what I want. The current owner has 26X10's on the front and 26X12's on the rear which are way to wide. I either have to change the tires or change the snowplow because the atv is wider than the plow. If I start spending too much money on it, I could just spend a little more and get a newer, bigger quad from the get go.

But the tires look almost new, you could take them off and sell them to afford narrower tires. Did he give you a price that he wants for it?

For a little more $$, I was looking at a stock 2010 brute force with the right size plow, a 54" warn and a warn winch with only 150 miles on it. He wants $5700 for the brute force

Honda, I think is slightly more reliable, but the brute has a locking front diff, right? That's one mod you may not want to live without. Especially plowing on any incline.

The Rincon has a odd tranny. Its only a 3 speed auto with no low range thats why its tow rating is only 850lbs while the smaller 500 Foreman is more like 1200 lbs.

And at 39hp the Rincon is the lowest powered big Bore on the market, new 550s make that much power most 500s are almost that.

While its an ok price for the condition/age, I would probably go with the Brute.
