250x top speed
#2
I don't know the top speed, but doubt it to be much more than 45mph. Stock v stock, the '08 with the sport clutch SHOULD be able to accelerate a bit faster while top speed should be the same. This is dependent on vehicle condition and rider skill of course.

Change the sprocket ratio around -4 teeth on rear and +2 up front and you'll get better acceleration and but no long run speed. But like Scooter said stock is around 45-49 mph. If you want more than sports clutches. Bigger carb. Bore it over and uni stage 2 air filter and you should gain around 5 or 10 mph.

LittleMechanic, the 250ex/current 250x is shaft drive. NGiff, you could alter final drive ratio by going to a taller tire for more top end. The trade off is it is a taller, heavier tire that won't handle as well and will bog the engine down a bit more.

a lot of variables come in to play here. terrain: what are your riding conditions? the 250ex is a good quad, but it is way light in the front end! it's 2wd semi automatic/sport clutch. what's your experience/skill level? how big are you? Weight/height/age...etc....if you're at 200 lbs and close to 6' tall, the trx250ex is not for you. think of it like this: any quad is slow enough to cruise and fast enough to hurt you when used incorrectly. drive smart. play smart. be smart.

I agree with the 45mph statement. It is a beginner/smaller rider machine, wan't speed, get something with over 400cc's. My 400ex is stock and does like 65 topped out, but speed don't really matter to me, I need bottom end for climbing steep stuff...
