I once saw a street legal bashee. If i recall correctly it was in the U.S. It had to have d.o.t tires and turning signal> I remebr there were other stipulations also.

Every state has different rules. Do what I did; contact the DMV. Most states it is not feasible to make a quad street legal and some it is very easy.

In Wyoming, the only requirements are headlights, tail light, brake light, horn, mirror, insurance and motorcycle license. There is no requirement for type of tires or any other specific language.

If you want a street legal quad that is anything like the ones in dirt wheels why would you bother. When you are done putting all the required stuff on them you can,t even use them off road anymore so what is the point???

Ahhh, i think if all you had to add was brake lights, turn signals, and plates you could still use it offroad.
It would be totally awesome to be able to ride a quad on the street legally.

I prefer the street legality issue... since I live right near the trails, it makes it very easy to simply take the Rancher right out of the garage and to wherever.

I only had to put on a mirror and plates, of course carry insurance. But then I probably push it by riding off at night sometimes.

I have never been hassled..the police have pulled up behind me to make sure I had plates and OHV stickers, then they just left me alone. It's a great grocery getter for the summertime too. You can also just put one of those "Slow Moving Vehicle" Reflective Triangles on the back and you will be legal for short rides on the streets, on the shoulder, like a farm tractor does.

I'd like to get turn signals and put the $5 brake light swithc on, so I can ride out at night legally. Having a tough time finding the right turn signals though.

It's really no different for street or dirt riding. The only thing I do is put a bicycle type mirror on the end of the handlebar which attaches with a velcro strap and a bicycle type squeeze bulb horn on. It takes about 30 seconds. The license plate is always on which you need anyway to ride anywhere in lieu of a green sticker. Other than that I had to put a break light switch on and a different tail light which has the break light bulb in it which stays there all the time. Look at the pics on my web sight, you can't even tell there's anything different about it.
