Default 2002 Rancher ES - starter button/switch?

Just was given a rancher from my wife's folks. Very nice. And they even to it to the shop and had it all fixed up before they gave it to us. Very, very nice of them. Our first Honda ATV.

Worked fine when we were driving it around the first time. Parked it, and the next time we went to start it with the electronic start, it turned over fine but needed to choke. (new machine to me ). Next hit on the start button and nothing happens. It's like the starter button died. Bike is in Neutral. Electric shift is working. No indication that the battery is low. Dash lights and headlight bright. No click when starter button is pushed... no sound at all. One minute it's turning over, the next it's not. Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like maybe the starter needs brushes put in it..Take an test light an put on starter wire an push starter button an see if test light lites up when button is pushed...If light burns then bad starter,,If not happens when push button while testing then need to start testing from button to batt and then there to solenoid to starter.

I had a Rancher that the kill switch was flakey and you had to toggle it back and forth to get the starter to turn over...worth a quick check.
