I think the Rubicon Hondamatic is a non serviceable tranny that has to be bought as a complete unit. I think their like $1300. 2002 Honda TRX500FA A HONDAMATIC | Babbitts Honda Parts House

You have that much snow already?!

thanks TLC - they can be had for a grand still a bit steep for a 12 year old machine

That was up higher - we were out remarking a snowmobile trail for our sno-cat - there's a little more up there since

That ATV does not owe you anything ,maybe just part it out and get what you can and start over.
Does not take long to make a couple of grand on ebay with used parts.
Another option is buy a used Rubicon of the same year with much less miles and keep yours as a parts bike.

That would be a tough decision. On one hand, for $1500 you'd have a brand new machine. On the other, it's probably only worth $1500 if you fixed it and sold it. That sucks. I guess if it were me (and I'm kinda **** this way), I'd fix it and keep it for $1500 rather than spending $7000 or more on a new one. It would be worth $1500 TO ME, but prolly nobody else.

Even if he fixed it the rest of the hundreds of parts have 17,000 miles as well.

To heck with a $7000 new one ,buy a mint condition $3500 one.

To many good used one to be the dealerships Guinea pig .

decent 01 Rubicons are going anywhere from $2500-3500 out here where I live - but mine is a high-miler -

its going to be tough - I'd really like a new ATV but I'll probably wait til spring time when they have all their incentives and sales.

Here's a nice one: an 01 Rubicon with only 11 miles on it.

I seriously doubt that he will ever get that kind of money - they really not a "collectible".

I enjoyed the BF when I got to ride it for a day down in Pennsylvania. Liked the power and the newer suspension was much better than older BF's. Power steering is nice too. Never thought I'd like it as much as I do.

Only thing I don't like is the little yellow lever to fully lock the front end. That could be bad in a mudhole where your machine is tipped to the left side and you have to stand on the right floorboard to keep it from going over. I know it's not really an issue where you are but out here with the deep mud and water holes I've been in that situation at least a half dozen times.
