All Hondas after 2003 should have selectable 2wd/3wd drive option I think.

The Honda 350 was permanent 4wd right up to the end of production in 2006. The 400 auto was switchable 4wd as was the 500 auto and 500 manual. The early 450 was permanent 4wd but got switchable 4wd in about 2003. I work on 350s regularly and they are a bit thirsty, probably because of the permanent 4wd, and the limited slip front diff can make the steering stiff, depending on how tight the diff is. They are pretty reliable, with a lot better back axle than the 420, though I believe the new 420 has got the 350’s axle. I have known 350 valve seats to come loose but this is rare.

If you really want the option Warn company made a selector to allow the 350 to be 2 wheel drive. Memory serves me it was expensive. See eBay part 310818599286 $369

Thanks - I had seen that Warn option, but ending up with a 2wd anyway... for my first, I think it will be fine.

2wd are not as bad as you think. I ride with a 2wd Kawasaki Lakota and a 2wd Yamaha 350 Bruin/Grizzly. Both guys put nice aggressive aftermarket rear tires on and its amazing where they can go.
After I put my new 26" Zilla tires on my 350 a seldom ever touch the 4wd button now.
