Default 05-06 honda forman issues

A few issues have arisen with my bike, I am assuming they a somewhat related as they have all come on at the same time. Right, so the batteries is stuffed because its not charging so its been left flat too long. The starter doesn't work, the 4wd light flashes and 4wd doesn't work. And last night the red oil light came on but it still has oil to required level. oh and the display on the screen flickers on and off. Is the red oil light oil level or oil temp? The fan didn't come on and usually it does and the bike felt very hot. Any suggestions would be helpful as I cant afford to send it to the shop.
Thanks
Adam

First, you have to get a new battery, there is no point in trying to find faults without a decent charged battery. Next cure the charging problem, if it is not caused by the dud battery it will probably be the regulator. Check you are getting 13 to 15 volts across the new battery with the engine running. The oil warning light is for oil temp, so if the fan is not working, remove the wire from the sender unit, probably under the crankcase at the back near the reverse cable lever, and earth it to the case (with ignition on), the fan should then run.
