The Armordillo has the advantage of already having the holes in it for oil and filter changes, but it also has the huge wrap up piece that looks awful from the front. The holes for the oil and filter change may be too big and allow sticks and other objects to get access to the drivetrain. Highlifter is releasing a steel or aluminum (they told me steel on the phone, but all the other ones they make are aluminum) full length skidplate in about a month. It will have a removable "door" to allow oil and filter changes without removing the skid plate. This seems like the best idea, but if it is steel it may be heavy, and Highlifter will not be as cheap as either the maier or the armordillo. Hope I was of some help and please post any info you get about these.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INFO! I AGREE THE ARMADILLO DOES NOT LOOK GOOD FROM THE FRONT, BUT I LIKE THE DURABILITY OF THE PLASTIC. I LOVE THE LOOK OF HI LIFTER SKID PLATE AND BASH PLATE THE BEST BUT AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE DENTS AND DINGS.

THANKS

The Maier plate does a good job for the money. I had one on my 450, and it took a LOT of punishment. I bought one for my Rubicon, but am waiting on a reply from Maier before I put it on. On the 450, the Maier plate mounted over the stock skid plates. According to Maier, the Rubi is the same way. BUT, the hole configuration for the "P" clamps doesn't line up if the stock plates are left on. I don't know if I would trust the Maier plate on it's own without the support of the stock plates. If Maier doesn't have an answer, I may have to "rig" something.
