To be honest, I'm not sure why the pro's shave their fenders. Could it be to save weight by redusing the area that mud can cling to?
I started off just trying to remove those retarded safety plaquards, but after I drilled out the rivets it looked just as bad as when I started, so I broke out the saw and whent to work. My bike looks alot better now, but I did lose some mud protection which wasn't all that great to begine with.

the pro's trim the fenders so that they can see the front tires better. it also cuts down on wind resestance and they gain speed and dont have to worry about getting blown around by a gust of wind in the air.
