Default 2000 Honda Rancher 350 4x4

Hi guys,
Looking to buy a rancher 350 4x4.
Very nice looking quad,[pics only]
But! front casing is bad, said gears aren't damaged.
How hard to fix and are parts out there?
Thanks in advance.

They made many 350 Ranchers so used parts are out there.

I only buy used myself but I only look at the ones that are ready to ride, unless they are almost giving it away.
There are just to many good used ATVs out there for sale for me to bother looking at the non runners that need work and parts.

how hard do you think it will be to change the casing for the 4wd?

It is fairly easy. Remove footwell plastics, though you can get away with just the black splasguards on an early non ES model. That is another thing to watch, the clutch cases are different on ES and non ES models and 2wd and 4wd are different again. I always sit the quad on it's backside to remove the cover, turn fuel off and make sure the filler cap is tight when you do this. Take the five bolts out that hold the front diff in place and move the diff forwards (upwards). With the coupling moved forwards too, the prop shaft will come out of the engine splines and can be removed. Then it is just a matter of removing the clutch cover bolts, keep them in order as lengths vary. Watch out for a washer that sticks to the case when you lift it off, then falls out when you are wiggling the case out of the frame. How has someone managed to damage this cover?

I don't know yet, haven't talk to them .Trying to see what I'm getting into first. If I can get parts etc. Pics of it look real nice, new tires, and no broken plastics . What is a fair price?

Not running I would say $1000. If it all goes south then you know atleast you can part it out to get your money back.

I paid $1300 for my 2002 2wd Rancher 350 ES. It starts and runs great. Only thing it really needed was some new rear tires. A fully functional 350 4x4 Rancher would be worth about maybe $1700-$1800, maybe even could get it for a little less. Like TLC said, Honda made tons of these. If you look on craigslist, you can usually several of them locally unless you really live in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't even waste my time if it needed work, just scroll down to the next one and check it out. Unless they're selling it really cheap, move on.
