MX400EXER, your bike is basically stock except a pipe and cdi. Im sure you will be quite easy to beat with alot of bikes.

My 440 has the 450/451 grind cam. Polaris 2- stroke automatics at Big River are sought after drag machines. I would bet that they are at other tracks to. Like I mentioned before the 400 Sport had only a RCR port job, domed and clutch mods. Automatic transmissions have an advantage in dragging for there is no shift time lag. Automatics deliver constant power. There was a 250r set up for dragging with a automatic tranny for sale for $5200 at the strip.

Straight line drags take no skill....pffssss. Maybe you should come on down and just show us how to do it. Organized bracket drag racing takes alot of skill. Sure anyone can nail it in a straight line, but how consistant can you do it. The word "Consistant" makes it difficult.

I would also bet that a majority of atver's drive more than 500 feet at a time.

Pudjumper, Maybe polaris "guy" didn't tell you everything he has done to his quad? Only HE will ever know.

Pudjumper,
The best mod to do to a 400L is headwork. They are very conservative out of the factory. And yes, a CVT tranny is the best in drag.
I used to beat 400EX's on my 4WD Scrambler & I didn't even have anything but a pipe & clutch kit then! The reaction some guys have is funny. Obviously some people believe everything Dirtwheels says about Polaris. Now just think if Polaris put that 400L in a lightweight frame!
The 400EX is a great quad, but not great for a good old one on one drag.

If the 400 had an RCR port he must have a pipe also... once you start talking porting on a Polaris 400 you are making major horsepower.

Trail porting with pipe and 39mm carb gets around 55 ponies. Thats with pump gas.

Race porting with all the above plus a bit more can get in the 70's!!

I still don't understand why this turned into a flame war. I may be faster than some of you and there are most likely a lot more quads faster than me but... I am having the most fun! Any quad with the right set-up and enough $$ can be the "fastest" on any given day...
