I had asked if anyone knew whether I was straining the CV joints on my TRX300 4x4 too much by having both extended shocks (progressives) and the lift kit. The answer was, probably. Though I mine performed fine for almost a year, I decided to take the lift kit off (and will be selling it for $60, see classified section)and keep the shocks. Apparently, the shocks add an inch of lift and the lift kit another 1-1 1/2 inches. It sure looked good.

I put a lift kit on my rancher about 500 miles ago. I made spacers for the shock mounts that moved the shocks 1 3/8 " on the bolt . I reacently ripped a inboard boot and had to change it. When i did I saw what the lift angle had done to my inboard cv cups .The drive shaft rubs on the outer edge of the cup and had mealed the metalover the retainer ring on the inside edge of the cup . I almost coulnt get the ring out to take the joint apart to clean it . I now that if i left it in it would eventually split the cup and cause the joint to fail and I dont even want to now what honda would charge for a new one .
