Rubicon low gear
#1
When a rubicon is shifted into low the transmission shifts into D2 at the same time. D2 is for maximum torque, however it also means less engine braking. Is there a way to dissable the switch to D2 so it will remain in D1? would this do any harm?

I know what you mean. There is no choice. What I want to know is if there's a way to keep it from switching to max tourqe when shifted into low. The steep hills of New England require engine braking and brakes. My rubicon holds back better in high d1 than in low.

Hey, Muzzy that seems very strange to me because my low range makes the rubi creep down any steep grade, and high D1 going down the same grade goes about 3 mph faster and Ive been down some real steep stuff. Just my 2 cents worth, dont hardly ever use the brakes. Happy Trails!!!!!!!!

Same as the others: D2 does not have the engine-braking that D1 has, but put in LOW, and it's as good as D1, if not better! Have you actually tried it, or are you basing that comment on D1 vs D2 engine braking, knowing that Low automatically means D2?
