Honda Starts Releasing the 2017s
#1

Honda’s initial announcement of the 2017 powersports model year involves a number of ATV products, including the highly popular Rancher lineup, the large-displacement Rincon, the versatile Recon and the sporty TRX250X. For 2017, several of these models are refreshed with new color options:

I hope they come up with something new. Hondas are rock-solid reliable but its time to get in the game when it comes to performance with the utility atv lineup. Obviously the current models do sell well but I'd like to see either a Rubicon or Rincon model with a bigger twin cylinder engine. With the introduction of the Pioneer 1000, it shows that they do care about power and performance. I think a smaller displacement version of the that engine in the Rubicon with the 6 speed dual clutch transmission with the ES option just like the Pioneer 1000 would really make a big splash. Give it eps, irs, and diff-lock and you'd have an instant success. Its time Honda, do it.

Seems like everyone on the forums calls for high powered machines with loads of technology, then they complain when they see the price and buy a used unit!!
Well that does the manufacturer no good!! They don't make money from window shoppers!

By the way Greg74, my last post wasn't meant to belittle you or anyone else as I am also in the boat of buying used ATVs but that's why I'd like to see more affordable models like yamaha has done with the Wolverine as of late and I'd like to even see solid rear axles come back into the mix. I'd like to see Can am release a 650- 800 cc L version in the outlander. Same with polaris. A 900cc engine in the sportsman 570 chassis would be a nice touch. I'm beginning to realize that the best time for quads was the 04-10 time frame. I'd like to see them made like that again.

I might buy one in 5 years when they become available used lol. Honda is quite proud of their new machines, that's for sure. I had a Wolverine 450 myself and it is quite a sporty machine. That 450 engine in the smaller, lighter chassis makes it feel a lot peppier than in the Kodiak. It lacked significant punch on top end, probably because it didn't have low range so it probably was geared a bit lower to compensate. That would have added weight as well I suppose. Had good low and midrange power though, which was great for trail riding. I think Yamaha could easily have continued to build it, just upgrade the power to maybe the 550 efi engine to get even more out of it. Could have even stuffed the 700 efi of the Grizzly in there to really compete against the Scrambler and Renegade. 45 hp in a 500 lb or so 4x4 quad would have been a great power to weight ratio. I definitely agree with you on smaller chassis machines with more power but it seems nobody wants to build any of those anymore. Even the Rancher 420 is basically the same size as the Foreman and Rubicon. I think when it was a smaller chassis, it was a better machine. I had a Rancher 350 once and I loved the size of the machine but it simply didn't have enough power. Something that size with a 500cc engine in it would have been a great quad. I like solid rear axles too, that's why I just bought my Brute Force 650. It was basically the last big bore quad you could buy with a solid rear axle. I think they were built up until 2012 and then Kawasaki only built the irs Brute Force 750 after that. I like how they feel a bit sportier and are just tougher than irs. No, they don't ride quite as plush and you lose a couple inches of ground clearance but its still plenty for me and it still rides smooth enough.
