I saw a topic about a 300ex top speed so i thought i would ask about my recon. Does anybody know what the top speed is for a recon. Also, if u know the horsepower or torque that would be nice too.

I read on a web page that a recon will do 53 but i think that might be a little steep.

thanks

adam

I heard that a 300ex will do 47. But I dont really know what a recon will do. They will probably around that speed.

Well, as for the the 300ex my slightly massaged 98' will do 63mph on the highway and my friends 98' recon did 47mph on the highway. I got my friend to follow us in a Chevy. oh yeah, my other friend has a banshee with k&n filters and twist throttle and it did 81mph on the hard stuff!!!

I am a proud owner of a Honda Recon and am truly amazed of it's skills. I have raced a 300ex before and with both throttles pinned the ex is about 5-9 mph faster. I have blown away Timberwolfs and Beartrackers and pull away from them at top speed. I think the Recon will run in the upper 40's mph. I am planning on modifying my Recon with these mods: uni air filter-w/ vents in air box, supertrapp ids eghaust, dyno jet kit, sur trax rear tires, and extra lights. i have already put on Maier handguards and they look sharp! it really protects my hands and levers from trees and brush. I have taken off my front rack and front mudguards to make it look more sportier. if anyone has replys i would enjoy to hear from ya!

I bought a new (leftover '99) Recon last month. It's the first ATV I've owned, after 30+ years on motorcycles. I have ridden quite a few ATVs, 3 and 4 wheelers, but never owned one myself. I am really enjoying the little Recon and am planning a trip to Colorado to ride it in the mountains. The only complaints I have about my Recon are the wimpy stock tires (at least compared to my buddy's Arctic Cat 300) and the soft suspension. It hasn't bottomed yet, so maybe it's not a problem. But I will be hauling deer on this thing and I worry about overloading it.
