Holeshots XCT's or Bandits
#1
I've narrowed it down to two different tires, and I can't choose which one I want. I'm not racing on motocross tracks or anything. I ride wooded trails, sand pits, occasionally some mild mud.
Oh, and one more thing, I'm thinking of going 22" in the back and 23" in the front. I don't expect much of a power loss, but if I do go with those sizes, do you folks think it would be a good idea to drop to a 14 tooth front?
Thanks for the help.

I have XCT's on my 400EX. I like the extra ground clearance. The bike is still plenty agile, even with the big tires. I switched to a 14t sprocket, but lately I'm thinking of going back to a 15t to keep the power more tractable. The front end is really light with the 14t. If I punch it in a corner, the front wheelies and I lose steering control. I think the more your eigine is moded, the less you will want the 14t.

I run 22" XCTs in the rear with a 14tooth frt. sprocket when I ride in the woods. It is a pretty decent setup. I personally think it is faster than stock because mine would not rev out in 5th gear, and that was with a Sparks X-4, Uni filter, and rev box.
How do you like riding up in Maine. I lived there until I was 17. I rode alot of the pits in the Lyman area.

It's true. The 22" rear Bandits are NOT that tall. I measured mine against my husband's 20" Holeshots (both had 5 psi in them) and mine were only 1/2" taller.
Personally, I don't like my Bandits. I have only had them on the trails once but I didn't like them at all. The handle too different compared to the stock tires, it was a rough ride. They wanted to hook up when I was climbing hills too. I was told by other Bandit owners that they will ride and handle better once they wear down a bit. I am trying them one more time (this weekend) and if I still don't like them I plan to sell them and get Holeshots.
