How to troubleshoot a 07 honda 400ex stator (no spark)
Hello all,
My quad has just recently lost spark so I went online to by myself a new stator to fix that problem once I installed the new stator I noticed I still have no spark can anyone tell me what i need to check on the stator to make sure it isnt a dud or if I have to check anything else thanks

I tend to work on utility quads so don't know the exact spec of the EX but most Hondas made before the fuel injection ECU system, had a strange hybrid CDI which was part AC and part DC, so the CDI could get power from either alternator or battery. Best thing to do is get a workshop manual and follow the ignition system tests in it.
The alternator will produce a voltage when being turned on the starter, but it can be quite small. I am working on an Eiger at the moment, AC type CDI, and the spec is 0.3v minimum from the ignition power coil of the stator.
