Bad Lands wreck (OUCH)!!
#1
I was at the Bad Lands in Attica IN on Sat. and I don't remember any of sat before the hospital but my friends tell me that I was jumping (step down) off the jump on the sand bowl and must have given it too much throttle they say that I landed on left rear wheel but hung on and it came over on me and finished it's first end over end flip by continuing over it's front with me under it. It did another flip but I had let go. I destroyed my left hand, left thigh left side chest hurts, bit of whip lash and got a concussion. Bent axle, left rear hub, left rear wheel and wraped the bars around the tank. My helmet saved my life most likely it has the scars to prove it. Anyway the point is do your self a favor and wear a good helmet. Look safe and smart on your quad or look stupid in a casket.

How did you manage to flip the Recon? Is the Recon a 4x4? I went to that ATV safety class. They talk all about how and when to shift your weight. It seems natural, but there is allot of room for error.
My problem is that on the Rubicon (600+ pounds) I dont feel overly safe shifting my weight forward (standing) while climbing a hill. So far I haven't had a problem, but I keep thinking about what i am supposed to do... anyone have any thoughts?

Sorry to hear about your crash, hope your ok. I have seen many of people wipe out at the badlands. A couple that I thought that wouldn't live through the accident. The good news, is that everyone must wear a helmet!
If you take pictures of your quad, give a picture to badlands for the wall.
Again, hope things work out.

Sorry to hear that man. The Badlands can be just as the name states. I flipped mine end over end 2 weeks after I just got my Lakota. I wasn't lined up right and my left front tire hit the "valley" that was dug out to get to the top and over on top of me it came. Luckily minor damage to the quad and myself. Straightened the bars and brake levers and rode the rest of the day. Helluva wake up call for me and I have been very leary to go up very steep hills since. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

I can not even count the times a helmet has saved my noodle. I wear one 99.9% of the time. The .01% is when i'm at work and i drive from one end of the farm to the other speeds under 15mph of course and if i'm riding my quad from the shed to my garage which is about 50 feet. I was in a snowmobile wreck this winter and we were riding double and we didnt see a tile ditch. 15 foot drop in the ditch and 20 foot wide ditch we had to of been doin around 60 to clear it like we did. It was about like smacking into a brick wall head on and flying like superman. We missed the water and hit the other side about 2 feet above the water. I hit my helmet on the back of my friends helmet and it knocked me out cold. I flew off the sled and I came to while flying through the air and when i hit the gound i got knocked out again. I can with out a doubt say that I would not be here if it weren't for helmets. I dont care how uncool you might look or if it messes up your hair, i'd rather look "uncool" wearing a helmet then 6 feet under. Just my 2 cents.
