My 2005 honda recon es cuts off when I put it in 1st or neutral .It will do perfect in neutral it just cuts off when in gear . Do you have any ideas

 

Can be all sorts of things. Is the carb set so it only runs when the idle revs are quite high, you can tell if you have the idle set high by the engine note. Could be centrifugal or one way clutch seized, Make sure the idle speed is set right then, if it is a foot change model, let your foot off slowly after changing into 1st, if the revs drop, and it stalls while trying to move forwards you have a centrifugal or one way clutch problem. If the bike cuts as soon as the neutral light goes out, you have an ignition problem.

Sorry, just noticed in the text you mention it is an ES, you could do the same test using the emergency lever.
