What is the Diff. in the tire ply.

Having more ply's doesn't always mean that the tire is stronger or more puncture resistant than one with less ply's. A lot has to do with the thickness of the ply's and the quality of the material. I'm not saying a 2 ply is stronger than a 6 ply. But a high quality name brand 4 ply can far exceed the a cheaply made 6 ply tire in puncture resistance and tire wear.
I'm unfamiliar with what size tires come on your 96 Honda 300 2wd. Or if you want to go with something a little bigger to give you some more clearance. But for a suggestion on some tires for creek riding and trail use. Why don't you take a look at the Titan 589 or the Goodyear Mudrunners. Both are well constructed tires with a deep self-cleaning lugs. But still will give you a smooth ride on the trail.
