Fellow ATV'ers,

Just bought a used TRX 300 ('92 model) and want to know more about the model's reputation. Who enjoy any comments on things to look for in terms of maintenance and mechanical performance. Helpful comments on valve adjustment would be especially useful.

Bought this one as a second quad to use while hunting with my father-in-law who lives out of state. He recently lost a lung to cancer and needs something to help get a deer of the woods. Needs a new set of brakes and rear brake cable but other than that everything is in great shape.

And for those wondering, paid $2000 for it.

Thanks for your input.

Check out the thread: Honda 300 (General)
I think you will find what you are looking for. If not, you'll find most of the people with 300's.

My 300's have been bulletproof since the day I bought them ('88 2wd, '99 4wd). They have a solid reputation for reliability. All I do is check the oil every ride, check the diff's and air filter every few rides, and check the valves and replace the spark plug every year. The only thing I've ever replaced is tires.
