Default 1986 Honda FourTrax 350d

I am having problems figuring out why I have no gears the shifter shifts just like it's going into gear but it doesn't go into gear it's in neutral all the time the light the neutral light goes off but there's still it doesn't go into gear I have taken both cases off and the spring was broke I put a new spring and it's still got no gears if anybody knows what's going on it would be great it's been like this for over a year now when I lost the gears I was plowing
