I've seen it done.. usally it turns out pretty good.. I don't have any pics but I'm pretty sure it won't drain your battery too quick. It also depends on what type of amp , casset/cd player and speakers you use, and plus if your battery does get low you still have a back-up starter.. I've seen companys that made them for quads too.

I did this when I was a kid on an old honda 250, we had a 10" woofer on the back rack and a little speaker up front with a car stero strapped on, it worked too! you could hear it bumpin down the road. I also had a cb under the stero, but I took that off after the antenna struck me in the top of the head. it was rigged but it worked! l8r

This does not exactly pertain to the radio on a quad but it does have to do with hooking up a radio, and power usage. I made a power connection from my 220 to a car, so that I could listen to the radio in it, and run some accessories in it without installing a car battery. I could run the radio for around 9 hours before the battery would start to get low. If you install a radio on a quad, you'd need one that is pretty durable as there would be a lot of vibration, and it would get dirty/wet.
