Do you need a big bore kit for a 400ex to beat a banshee?

My breeze 125 can take a turbo raptor, dust a turbo DS, blast a piped alky banshee. It just needed to be woken up. Just like me.

01quickex, your intelligent and insightfull remarks have completely changed the way I think about the 400ex. I'm going out and buying one tomorrow. Thank you for the sharing your wisdom and enlightening those of us whom without your guidance would probably ride something other than a 400ex.

RoostKing

From what I could see from WyoRider's web site it appears to me that you don't win very many races. LOL.

Some piped and reeded Banshee's have beaten my 440. The 440 has beaten some piped and reeded Banshee's. Unless you are racing for money who cares.

robg, have you seen the specs on the 450cc four stroke motor from HONDA. It makes 55bhp out of the box. If Honda can get 55bhp out of a totally reliable motor, then why can't a guy with an alcohol burning 440 get 56bhp? Also, $600.00 for a 400EX pipe? You got ripped off. I paid $347.00 for a chromed full race pipe and headers from LRD Performance. A modded 400ex can be very fast and reliable at the same time. I know, I have owned one for over 2 years now with only preventative maintenance needed. Dave

Norcalatver, you guys just see numbers and get all excited. Yes the CR450 does put out 55 hp, but this is at the crank. Now if you dynoed this machine you would see something like 47-49 HP at the rear wheel. Now throw this engine into a quad which has a lot more rolling mass, as in two rear wheels, and the hp on a dyno would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 42. Which is very good, but keep in mind that this engine is very well tuned, you are not going to get too much more out of it. Put pipes and a filter on a banshee or 250r and you are already there with lots more room to grow.

Again, let me state that I have only owned Hondas and I'm not trying to put them down. You guys just don't see that the move to four-stroke engines is a political decision. Two-stroke engines are politacly incorrect because they pollute more and accelerate too fast ripping up land and making them more dangerous to novices.

Yea, a picture is worth a thousand words and yes I was getting beat that day, but what you did not see in that pic is the 400ex getting completely smoked by everybody,(fortunately myself included!) cause he (she???) was so far back in the pack the camera did not even catch him (her???) on film... But its all in good fun, right??? Dont worry, I have a rematch scheduled with WyoRider this Memorial Day weekend and thats all Im gonna say, cause I will be the first to admit, your only as good as your last race!!

All you need to do is say you can beat a Banshee with pipes with a modded 400ex and we all know that you a) can't ride, b) are under 16, c) really have no clue what you are talking about, and d) have a lot to learn about atv's...

Not to mention that you probably have NEVER ridden a Banshee. As for those who say it's only good in a straight line - ever heard of Point du Veaux (spelling?). Duncan prepped BANSHEES ripped all other quads there. Not a 400ex in sight I might add...

So go ahead, open your mouth again, and prove you don't have a clue...

I only have a couple of things here to say.

1. No a 400ex cannot beat a Banshee stock for stock.
2. Yes a modded 400ex can beat a stock Banshee (depending on the 400's mods)

Now, MIA400EX
You say for around 1k you can beat piped Banshee's
hmmm, well, those pipes for the shee only cost around $500 so that gives us another $500 to play with right? Bt oooo, wait, you Banshee guys paid $6k plus for your shee! OTD I only paid $6100 on my Banshee. Before I bought it I was thinking about getting a 400ex seriously but they wanted $5700 and that wasnt including tax, bla bla bla which equaled out around 6k.

For that 1k in mods you bought for the 440 I could get a set of T-5's and 18cc coolhead and run the 440. I have seen it done and so have many others.

About 2 months ago there was a 440 out at a riding area. Now there is a great drag strip out there around 250-300 yards in lenght on hard pack dirt (field). I went out there and ran the guy with the current setup that I have and he whooped me 9 out of 10 times. Finally my riding friend that I had met not to long ago shows up. He had just put on a 18cc coolhead running racegas and T-5 pipes. Thats the only thing not stock on his shee.

They ran about 15 or so times and only once did the 440 beat him.

But hey, this is all just hearsay.
