Finnally, my vast knowledge of ATV's has come in handy (god, I need to get a girlfriend)
First mass-produced quad: 1984 Suzuki QuadSport
First mass-produced trike: 1969 (I think) US90(Later renamed atc90)
I remembered an article from about a year ago concern the topic of the first trikes and quads... Here it is: https://atvconnection.com/editor/fea...ndahistory.htm

This question was addressed a few years ago in a short article in Dirt Wheels magazine. If my memory is correct, the first real ATV was made a little known company that later went out of business. I believe it was a four-wheel, sport type ATV made for having fun and first introduced back in the 60's as an option to a dune buggy.

It really depends on what you definition of a quad is. The germans back in WW2 made a small 6 wheel tracked vehicle that was used to move planes and stuff around. I believe it was a one person thing with a handle bar as a steering wheel. I know that it was small.

Susuki has the first quad...below is a quote...
In 1982, Suzuki took the lead in the hot new market for all-terrain vehicles by introducing the first 4-wheeled ATV, the best-selling QuadRunner LT125. A full line of 4-wheeled ATVs soon followed. Shortly afterward, competing manufacturers copied Suzuki's pioneering design concept and introduced their own 4-wheeled ATVs.

boots11234--the vehicle you are refering to is the GERMAN Kettenkrad. it was a Half-track. it had a single whel in the front with motorcycle forks and handlebar. it had a 36 HP Opel Olympia engine which gave it top speed of 50MPH. on slow turns it was turned by the front wheel but for sudden turns it had a brake on each track.I recently saw one of these at a military show. they look awesome. In my mind, if you can call a vehicle with tracks an ATV, this was the first one ever.

Honda came out with US90 in 1969. This was the first ATC. It was later renamed to the ATC90 in 1971. It had a 89cc 4 stroke motor that produced 7 hp.
Selling price: $595
Today in good shape they are going for a LOT more than that.
