Default Rancher 350 engine swap

Looking to put engine out of a 2003 4wd into a 2000 2wd. Question is do I need to make any change on the front cover or will it be ok just to leave the front differential shaft as is and use that way?

You can leave the front shaft as it is. The oil seal is in the case and seals the shaft, so no problems. Going the other way (2WD engine in 4WD bike), would require the shaft through the engine and the clutch case, changing.

Not sure you "got the message", you don't need to alter the engine to fit it to a 2WD bike.
