300ex stock silencer

A buddy of mine just bought a 300ex. He would like to modify the silencer instead of buying a new slip on. Can someone tell me the best way to do this and what the gains were. Thanks

I dont think he is willing to do that since he has only had it a month now. Is there anyway to take out the spark arrestor or modify it some other way than drilling holes? I know the 400ex people modify all the time.
