Trade-in for the 300EX-WHAT???
#1
One day I was curious and went to the dealership where I purchased my '01 300EX. Out of curiosity, I asked about trading in my 300 for a 400 and what I could get. Granted, I have done no motor mods, shaved the front fenders, added motion pro twist throttle, holeshots on the rear, fast trekkers on the front, and renthal bars. It, maybe, has 70 hours on it. Extremely clean. Oil was changed every 20 hours or so.
This is the deal though.....$2100 was the offer! Is this fair? What do ya'll think? Thanks.

Hell No that is not Fair!
go to www.kbb.com - kelley blue book and see that the trade in value for a 2001 honda 300EX in GOOD condition is $3270.
I would ask why he thinks it is worth 1200 less than fair blue book.
I can only imagine you spent probably $4000-$4400 just on the bike before the parts.
Best bet is RUN from any dealer, sell the bike to your envious brother in law and then go out and buy the 400EX of your dreams. Or you can always list it in the local newspaper.
By the way KBB says the retail on that bike is $4610. That could be because 2001's are still on the showroom floor.
Without seeing the condition of the bike it sounds like it may be in the $3500-3750 range.
Print out the KBB stuff and go back to the stealer. Trade ins is where they make their best money I bet.
You could always strip the racing parts off and sell it as stock then sell the parts on the list or use them on the 400.
Best of luck getting that 400...
