can anyone tell me if there is anyway i can get more speed out of a recon 250 without buying anything expensive!!

It depends, what is your idea of expensive. You could go for just a K & N Air Filter for $30 bucks. What I did for about $150 bucks got a K & N Power Kit which includes the filter, jet kit and a few other things. When my next paycheck came in I bought a FMF Mega Max 2 pipe and header. They gave me considerabaly more power and more speed. I bought some 20" Bandits for the back, but with the smaller size you lose a few mph at the top end but you have quicker accelration. All in all I spent about $400. It might be a little expensive but part by part it is reasonable.

I think I just put my foot in my mouth. I typed it like I put a header on my Recon. What I should of said I bought a FMF Mega Max for my Recon and I bought a header for 2002 coming sometime in June. I bought the pipe and he had the Power Bomb header for a 300 he was trying to get rid of. So I bought it cause I knew I was getting a new 300 EX.
