PERSONALLY I WOULD GO FOR THE HONDA FORMAN 450. I HAVE RODE THE 425 EXPEDITION AND THE ONLY THING I LIKED ABOUT IT WAS THE ON AND OFF 4WD.. BUT THE 425 FELT LIKE IT DID NOT HAVE THE PEP, AND THE QUICKNESS AS THE 450. PLUS YOU CANT KILL A HONDA. ITS FEELS BIGGER AND HANDLES BETTER ALSO HIGHER LIFTER HAS A UNLOCKER FOR THE FORMAN THAT MAKES IT A TOTALLY DIFFERENT 4

I've had two Honda Foremans and now I have a Polaris Expedition 425. I'm over 60, so I don't demand the sporty characteristics that these youngsters do. I really enjoy the Expedition's quietness, soft seat that you can ride almost all day and not have your butt complain, softer suspension. The Foreman's were a little too much "utility" (tractor-like) than I wanted. So far, my Expedition has been reliable, but I don't abuse it at all. Just my opinions. If your dealer will let you, I'd ride them both before purchasing.

4-Wheel ATV ACTION said this was one of there closest shootouts ever.Who wins? Considering its superior construction quality and more reliable performance,we'er going to give this round to the 450S by a narrow margin. So I would say you can't go wrong with either.I have a 450es and its been great!

Hey Yamahagye~
I'll answer your questions as honestly as I can, although I do not own either one of these machines. which is faster? I would have to think the Foreman would win due to its larger engine displacement. which has the better traction system of the two? I would have to give this to the Polaris. It has the on/off 4 wheel drive system and also TRUE 4 wheel drive...none of that limited slip junk in the front end. which is better at hill climbing? Sorry, can't give you much of an answer here. I'd guess they are fairly equal. which is better in the mud? If you intend to keep your machine stock, the Polaris is definitely superior to the Honda. The true 4 wheel drive and more aggressive stock tires give it an edge in muddy conditions. which is better in technical 1st gear riding? Again, can't give much of an answer. I'd say fairly equal. Also, the Polaris has far superior suspension which will let it be ridden harder without beating the hell out of you. The Expedition has been the most reliable machine Polaris has built, so I would definitely make that machine the one to buy.

I've owned only Polaris for 10 years, and last weekend I got a 450S. The why is simple-reliability. The Honda is much less likely to let you down in the middle of hell. Honda egineers their suspension to accomplish the same tasks as Polaris with less travel but equal or superior performance. The 450 is stronger and will go longer than the 425. A Polaris strong point is their 4WD system, which is almost always in 2WD, even with the 4wd button pushed. When the button is in, the front diff doesn't engage until the rear tires slip about 1/5 of a revolution. Honda adds a 2 to 4wd switch to the 450 for the 2002 model year, and a company called HiLifter will have available in mid-July a locking/unlocking front drive shaft for older 450s. My dealer told me a Honda with 2000 miles is broken in, a Polaris with that many miles is probably just broken . The Polaris feels plush to ride, while the Honda is more sporty. My switch to Honda tells you all about my preference. Good luck. Think extended warranty if you go with the Polaris, probably not necessary with the Honda.
