Actually what Giz400ex said is not true . My friend has turf tamers and he never goes to the mx track . They dont do that great in the mud but they do were good because i have holeshots and my friend has the turf tamers and we do alot of road riding and they haven't worn much . I think the holeshots would be your best bet because they are 4 or 6 ply depending on which tire you get . I wouldnt get the mx holeshots though because they are made of a softer compound so they will ware down fast .

I have Razrs on my 250R and love them. They seem to have the perfect balance between hooking up and slideability. Mine seem to be wearing pretty good although none of them will last long on concrete. They are not that good in real deep mud but you shouldn't take your 250R through deep mud anyway (in my humble opinion).

I think the stock 20 inch size tires are the way to go for most types of riding. Any bigger and you lose slideability and any smaller and you lose ground clearance (I guess that is obvious).
I run 20's now but am getting an extra set of wheels with 18's that I will run only when MXing.
Good luck with your restoration - but be warned, these 250R's are addicting as hell!!!

I have holeshot mx's and 20/11/9 ply razr's.I have a pretty modified 86 trx250r.THe razr's are an awesome tire!I have had mine for about a year and they are not worn down that much at all.
THe holeshots are a track only tire. They get holes easy due to their 2 ply construction.THey slide well, hook up awesome, and look great.IF they where 6 ply they would be my ultimate tire.
The razr's slide great, hook up great and look good to.They have only had one hole due to some glass.SO far they are the closest thing to the perfect tire I have found.
I have had a problem with flat spots in the wheels though.I would get some reinforcing rings or have the put on some silver honda wheels.
87R is right. They are addicting.I have been riding mine everyday for the past week and now I am out of gas.IT IS TORTURE!!
