I can't decide on what color to powdercoat my frame.

My external mods include: DG alloy front bumper, DG alloy nerf bars, FMF Power Core IV silencer, Renthal bars w/black SX pad, MX front radials, TCS shocks w/black Shockwears, the stock 2000 red Honda plastic, and Leager +2" a-arms.

The a-arms are powdercoated red and have blue Laeger stickers on the lower arms. I've thought about making the frame and swingarm both red, and then get Maier blue plastic with a Nac's graphics kit. I rather not invest in the plastic and graphics just yet, but if I powdercoat my frame and swingarm red, and keep the stock plastic, I think there will be just too much red on the bike. I want something that will look good on my 400EX.

Please, what do you all suggest I do? Do you have any pictures of possible quads with similar color combinations? Every helpful post is greatly appreciated.

Text I like something that stands out myself. I have seen several red 400ex's with yellow frames and I think they look great. I would go one step further however and have some sort of contrasting silvervein put in as well. Any reputable powder coating company could hook you up with something like maybe yellow with black silvervein. Just an idea. Good luck.

how durable is powdercoating? I was thinkin' bout doin that to my frame, but was worried about it getting scratched up and hard to touch up. How durable is it, anyway?

Hey WC, when he said transparent, he meant like my frame. That candy blue, is listed as a transparent color.

Right now I have my frame powdercoated silvervein, which is like black and gray speckles, it's the strongest of and type or color of a powder, trust me I use to be a powdercoater. My swing-arm is powdercoated RD-03, which is a dark red, oil tank, handlebars, and A-arms also RD-03. Foot pegs, block off plate, YL-03, which is yellow. Lastly, my side cases are dark blue. It all matches very well with my Dark Blue plastic. I would recommend a strong color like Black wrinkle or Silvervein. But, make sure you get the frame sand blasted first or else the powder will chip, also a top clearcoat would help protect the finish longer.

Does anyone have any pictures of their powdercoated frames? If so, let me know.

LDJ,
I would really like to see a picture of your frame if you have one. I have been interested in the silvervein, but I don't know if my bright red Laeger a-arms would look decent with it. Please help.

I do not not have any pictures yet, sorry, I meant to say bright red instead of dark red. Your a-arms are powdercoated RD-03 already. The colors would match perfect.
