I don't know if you remember me, but i had the 99 warrior and My friend has the now heavily modified 300ex. We were the guys from IA who competed against each other. I told you about his works shocks and recommended them highly. Anyway, my dealer (not Honda) got in a 2000 400ex with 20 hours tops on it. The previous owner had a 4x4 quad and bought the 400ex and hated it and traded it for another 4x4. I test rode it and now it is mine. I had almost $6800 in my 99 warrior and traded for a bone stock 400ex. All I can say is that you were right. Thank you. So now it won't be my friend and you vs. me. It was fun while it lasted. Mike Mazza 2000 400ex.

So why are you jumping ship to yamaha or bombardier? I have only ridden the 400ex in 2 different parking lots. I love it so far. It is fast and the suspension is good. I drove it off a loading dock and I know the Warrior would have bottomed out. It didn't have a problem. I hope it works out ok at the track. I debated buying it or Works shocks for the Warrior. It came out to the same $$$. I think this way is the better deal. Just hope I don't need reverse. I got my wife a Blaster for a while, she hated it and rode the Warrior. I couldn't afford to keep it and buy the 400ex too. She didn't really like Brandon's 300ex either, better, but... I don't get it. 5'3" 115lbs likes the Warrior only. Oh well, I will get her a used one in the spring.
Good luck with the new quad, let me know what you get and why.

Faster at what? 0-60 on cement only. Maybe sand, too. If you only ride dunes, then I apologize and retract my statement. Otherwise the 400 is WAY better. The Banshee is not a great jumper and doesn't turn very sharp, and it was invented before airplanes. The BOMB weighs a ton and no one knows what it is like yet. I hope it performs better than it looks. Reminds me on Maximillian from Disney's Black Hole. Come to think of it, thats probably how it would win a drag race vs a Banshee or 400ex...Drop it down a mine shaft. I will say this though, it makes Polaris look like tinker toys. Isn't it embarassing that we have the technology to make every quad on the planet way better than it was (stock from Japan) right here in the USA and these jokes are the best production quads we can make? (except the rebel star)

Well see about the track. Yes, Bombardier has stated the DS 650 may not quite up to snuff on the track, but what they have not said is that they do not recommend owners not take the 650 to the track. I live near a fairly large MX track, and the poor handling, ancient banshees are able to beat the 250 r's and the 400 Excess on a regular basis due to the superior power. So it is going to be interesting to see how the power of the BOMB will get it around a track. Think of this, being it is such a big machine, the width of it may make it hard for anybody to pass it, that is if it can get the holeshot off the start. So the race could possibly be over before right off the start.

Roostking, I should apologize for my last post. I was in a bad mood when I wrote it.
I hope that the 650 is as cool as it appears (by the numbers) The dealer thinks that it is heavy and ugly which I agree 100% but we will have to see. I have never ridden a quad with more power than 39hp. Is there a point where there is too much power? The last time I rode the Banshee, i could just give it gas and squeal the tires in first, second, and third gear on dry pavement and didn't abuse the clutch. Seems almost rediculous. I do not see how a person could be fast in anything remotely loose. That is why I feel 4 strokes are better. I will say that 2 strokes are more fun to ride. At least we are arguing about the same thing and one of us is not saying their Bayou will kick the other guys a$$ or something. I still feel 80% rider 20% quad (to an extent of course)

I've got to agree w/ hakmazter. The Banshee is definitely the fastest bike around. But for MX, it cant touch the 250R's. Look at the standigs for the past 13 years. Honda! No to be brash, I love Banshee's, but they cant touch the 250R's geometry. Even most Banshee riders fall in love w/ my bike after riding it. The only better handling bike (for recreation, not racing) is the 400EX. Hope I didn't hurt any feelings!
