Ive been looking at both of these quads, and i'm wondering which you guys think is better. I'm for the most part a beginner, ive had a couple of hours of experience on an '89 honda 300, and a '94 polaris magnum 325 and that is all. So from your guys' opinion which quad should I purchase? Price is a factor. Thanks

 

In my area these quads are very close in price.
Blaster-$2900
250ex- $3100
If you want to race and have speed get the Blaster. If you want a reliable trail quad that can you cruise around on get the 250ex. Remember the Blaster has a manual clutch so it won't be good for utility work.

 

Where do you live? Here blasters are $3200, and 250EX are $3900. Since im only 14 and i have to make the moula myself $700 is a lot.

 

The Blaster is a hotter bike, but the 250 is a more durable machine. You're 14 so this is probably a temporary bike for you. It would hold you over a few years until you have grown more and/or have the money for a full-on performance bike (am I right??). In my experience Blasters don't hold up that well, but if you are only going to have it a few years, that may not be an issue. We have easily pumped $700 in repairs into our Blaster!!

 

buy the 250ex becuse if you decide to get a bigger machine down the road the 250ex will have better resale value.

 

I live in tenn,but all I have to do is drive down to the mississippi border to a place that has honda, kawi, yamaha's and there price are about $700 dollars cheaper than anyone.

I bought a 250ex for my wife and it's a great bike for a beginner. Most of my buddies use it when we go out. They keep up with the 400ex on trails- but doesn't compair in power and speed. I asked my local Yamaha dealer what they thought about the 250ex compaired to the blaster.
the Yamaha sales rep said "No contest"- the 250ex is a better bike!. The blaster is a cheap, entery level bike. It's a good bike- but the 250ex will beat it in all around contests.

 

I have owned both quads, and over all I liked the Blaster better. However, none of the riding I did was any type of Utility use, or anything like that. I rode with a Banshee, and a lt250 Quadracer so we spent a lot of time just playing around on made up "tracks" and things like that. I didn't have many problems at all with the Blaster. I broke a clutch cable one time, and when I sold it the rear bearings needed to be changed. The 250 didn't have any problems either, but if you held it wide open too long it would just shut off. You shouldn't do that anyway. I know the guy that I sold my blaster to and it is still going today. He rides it really hard and has replaced the bearings (which were bad when I sold it), the chain, and the rear sprocket, and the rear axel. He lives next to a ski resort and would try to go up the mountain on the powerlines. The blaster doesn't have a great skid plate, so that is how he broke all the other stuff. My Blaster was a 1993, and I sold it in 1995, the guy is still riding it. Both are great starter quads, but today neither fits my needs. However, your needs may be different than mine. Although, the Blaster can be hopped up quite a bit. If you can try them both out it would be best. Good luck.
