Servicing Recon after 5 Tanks??
#1
I bought my Recon in March and have atleast 5 tanks through it. When I bought it, the dealer said it will need it's initial servicing after 5 tanks. I am new to ATV's.....do I really need to take it in? I know I could change the oil and filter by myself but am a little concerned on whether they need to adjust the valves after 5 tanks like they claimed. Thanks for your help!

I would stay with what the manual says to do , you will have a quad that will last a life time.
as far as the filter you may have trouble finding this one, seems they forgot this option.
the valves are prob ok but it wont hurt to check them anyway. that way you can look for any ware while you in there. we have two 2001 recons & have not had the first bit of trouble from them.
good luck & keep em going.

The owners manual says inital service at 20 hours. I would have them checked, or if you are of a mechinical nature buy a factory manual($50,about the cost of an adjustment) and do it yourself. I would also install an hour meter. It makes it much easier to know when to do maintainence. hth

20 hrs. is the "magic" # for initial service. The dealer(s) here in Ohio get @ $100.00 to do valve adjust. and oil change, general quick look over. I would invest in a manual, like gerg suggested, and do myself! I have to do this service on my girl's Recon soon. It is a piece of cake!
