i ordered a k&n for my 250ex when i got the old airfilter off it it way smaller than the k&n and the k&n is way to big for my airbox. i want to know if there is an adapter to go on the k&n to be able to fit on intake.

It sound like you may have a K&N for a 250R instead of 250EX. The intake will be smaller on the 250EX engine. May have been packaged wrong, or just mistake made. Did you pick it up at a dealer, or order it online? Most places will prolly let you return it for exchange.
