Which pipe should I get for my 400EX???

Don't bother getting an aftermarket pipe for a 400EX...*UNLESS* you plan on doing motor mods--only then is the aftermarket pipe worth the $, and only then will you see any real power gains.
In fact, a couple of my buds with highly modded 400EX engines run with the stock pipe, and still keep up with those of us with modded engines with aftermarket pipes.
The 400EX stock pipe is a solid, quiet, good performing pipe.

Previous post,
Why would you not recommmend getting just the pipe!
I just put a wb slip on my 400 ex and it was the best 300 bucks, with the jet kit I could spend on the machine.
SOUND - SOUND - SOUND-
ITs got a great bark to it now.
I dont care if its any faster.
Its kinda like hearing the HARLEY from to blocks away, you dont have to see it you just have to love that sound - sound - sound. Sorry but I'M a sound freak.

...you don't need to wait for engine mods to get a pipe!... 2 - 3 horsepower gains with a slipon (after jetting) is definately attainable... and you can feel the difference. Regardless if you do an engine mod or not... the gain is HP (from the pipe) will be the same.
Just make sure you jet it- or it's not worth it. ...it's all about airflow and air/fuel mixture.

I bought the whole kit(dyno jet) and pipe and k&n. I will admit I did not Know crap about pipes, and after reading many of these post on pipes, I still knew nothing, except most people seemed satisfied with most pipes, so then DW did a shootout with dyno runs. I liked the graph on the WB but they were ot of stock so I went with CT, It only took about a week to recieve, CT service was good and quick, plus the pipe looks nice. I also liked the fact that the dyno kit told you exacly how to jet it for my set-up(don't know much about jetting either). The pipe it self is great, not a whole lot faster just more torque and responsivness, I did have to change my gearing to help keep the front down, and you can easily hit the rev limiter. I agree that you don't need motor mods to have a pipe. The sound is the main reason I bought a pipe, the 400 sounds wimpy with the stock pipe. The CT sounds great, nice deep rumble when you crack the throttle open. 106db I think is what DW said it was. But CT was good to deal with and I hope to have them do some motor work for me when I get the cash.
