A honda 400ex will run with a raptor, they are not as fast, they are not as powerful. But come on, yamaha make a 660 that doesn't really beat a 400ex all that much. If yamaha made a 400 cc four stroke (like the warrior) they would lose terribly. A 660cc only beats a 400 by a little. Now if (and unfortunatley "If&quot honda made a 660 cc bike it would be hands down the absolute winner. I say again if a 400 comes close to the raptor, Just imagine what a 660 is going to do. think about it. No wonder the raptor is faster. But it won't last.

Sam.

The thing is Yamaha and Bombardier both have had to make big bore 600cc range sport quads to compete with a little 400. Its the truth. Slap some Pep shocks on the ex then stroke it and bore it to a 500 and it would blow the raptor away.Just imagine a 650ex. Or give the ex 5 valves and 2 carbs. Just wait till the Yamaha guys see this post. Its going to get real interesting.

Don't take this wrong, I love Honda powerplants, they are THE class act but, in our group, my nephew, has a Raptor, his buddies all have EX400's or 300's and the Raptor eats them all up, including one highly modified 400. The guys are all about 170 lbs except my nephew, he's about 250. The most limiting factor with the raptor is the traction, or lack of it. Getting that much power to the ground isn't an easy task. Putting them all on a hard surface with loads of traction and the power level of the raptor really shows how cubic horsepower and torque come into play. A lot of guys look at the two side by side in a short run but the seemingly small difference isn't really so small after a period of time, the distance stretches farther and farther. It also seems to be like the motorcycles. In motocross the 125 class will sometimes beat the 250 riders times on a given course, not because of power, but the ability to use the power being generated through traction and handling........I guess what I'm saying is that the Raptor IS more powerful, and by more than it sometimes appears, it also has a reverse.

Well that highly modified 400ex hasn't probably had the lower end touched. I mean it hasn't been stroked and isn't anymore than 440cc. of course the raptor is going to win its got 1 more valve and carb and lots more cc and the 400 still comes with 7mph on top end. So what we're saying is what if Honda upped the 400 some.
